- Have your original office CDs handy.
- Run the 15MB install file.

- If the installer asks for PUB.MSI put in the Publisher CD and
point it to

- If the installer reports an error, including error 1328, click

NOTE: To perform this
update, approximately 700MB or more free space are required on

here.
Save the
file to your hard disk.
STEP 2 - Make sure the SP1
Administrative install folder is on your hard drive.
In the original SP-1 Workaround you
created an install folder, c:\office. If this folder is still on your

SP-1 Workaround process again to recreate the c:\office folder, or, if
you backed up the folder, restore the backup.
STEP 3 - Have your original CDs
handy
It is important to have your original
Office XP cds available during the update process.
STEP 4 - Run the 15MB SP2 install
file.
Double-click on the file that you
downloaded in STEP 1.
Follow any prompts.
STEP 5 - When the installer asks for PROPLUS.MSI, point it to c:\office.
The SP2 update installer will ask for
the location of the "PROPLUS.MSI" file.
Make sure to type c:\office in the
address box.
STEP 6 - If the installer asks for
PUB.MSI point it to your original Publisher CD.
If at any time your are prompted for
PUB.MSI, then insert your original Publisher CD and point the installer
to you D: drive (or whatever drive letter your CD-ROM uses).
STEP 7 - If the installer reports an
error, click ignore.
If the Installer reports an error,
click the IGNORE button. This should allow the install to complete
successfully.
Congratulations, you have now updated
to SP2. You can verify this by clicking Help -> About Microsoft Word
